Big news for our neck of the woods this week. Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore, just a hop skip and a jump away from Snoloha’s Intergalactic Headquarters won the title of “Good Morning America’s” Most Beautiful Place in America.
I know there are plenty of you out there who are familiar with this area, and thus it makes perfect sense why I call it home. But I know there are also plenty more who have never had the opportunity to visit, and would never have imagined Michigan could look like this…which is why I call it home.
With all the exposure that northern Michigan has been receiving, tourism is bound to increase. Tourism, of course, is key to our economy and who wouldn’t want to vacation here, it’s beautiful, the people are friendly and the vibe is laid-back. BUT. Please…respect the water, beaches and wildlife. And…pick up after yourself. That’s all I ask. And if you want to go for a sail…visit Bay Breeze Yacht Charters & Sailing School, the Tall Ship Manitou or the Nauti-Cat, heck maybe I’ll even take you for a sail on the “Snoloha”!
Last fall we took a drive out to the Sleeping Bear shoreline during a wind storm that ripped through the area…winds were at 40-kts with gusts up to 75-knots. It’s hard to tell by that photo…but just standing was a struggle.
Yes, that is the Palm Tree Chair Lift Hoodie…you should buy one, they are sweet. And they can withstand wind.
