When I posted the photo of the vintage Snoloha BoardShop hoodie and asked for one word to describe what Snoloha meant to you for a chance to win it, I wasn’t sure what to expect. Thirty-some words later I was very happy as I read the various responses.
I really wasn’t sure how to choose a winner, I just wanted it to be random. So…I had my little banana help me, and the winner she chose was very fitting given the meaning of this particular design.
Watch this, then I’ll explain.
In case you didn’t watch, the winner was Larry LaBallister.
When I first decided to share this vision of Snoloha with the world, one of the very first people that I confided in was a good friend and very talented artist. After explaining the concept, then nailing the Snoloha Island logo…it was time for the very first ‘official’ Snoloha design that had been rolling around in my head for quite some time.
I went on to explain how I had this vision of a Snoloha Board Shop in my head. The kind of shop you want to just hang out at, get the most recent snow and surf reports, learn some local knowledge, find some new gear, learn from some of the Old Guys and have a cold one at the end of a good day on the slopes or in the water. A funky tiki ski surf shop on a beach, with snow on the ground and the sun setting in the distance.
In my head, it made sense…and it still does.
And the design that he came up with was a PERFECT representation of what I had envisioned – the Snoloha BoardShop.
It just so happens that talented artist who was able to get inside my head was Larry LaBallister. CONGRATS on winning the ‘vintage’ Snoloha BoardShop hoodie, and THANKS for being able to get inside my head.
Thanks to everyone who took the time…and don’t worry, I’ve got more stuff to give way! So there will be more contests coming. Stand by.
