I’m very fortunate to live where I live. First in Traverse City (a scenic, laid-back beach town), and more specifically our proximity to the beach, marina and our boat (a couple block walk).
People spend a lot of money to vacation here, temporarily escaping their real world. Vacactions take planning, time off…and money.
So I feel extremely lucky to know that when life gets hectic and stressful, it’s not very difficult to ‘escape’ given where we live. I know that’s not the case for many of you. I received a wonderful note from a Snoloha fan and customer about what Snoloha means to her (the ‘prison’ she refers to is her job)…here’s part of it:
“To me, your brand means hope, peace, something outside those prison bars – metaphorically speaking”
Late in the afternoon yesterday, we went to the beach to play in the sand and take a swim with the little one. I also used it as an opportunity to grab some much needed product photos, so I was able to mix bidness with pleasure.
It’s those simple, and convenient, moments that remind me how lucky we are. But if you are stuck somewhere where it’s not as easy to escape, or perhaps you are sitting in a cubicle wondering if it’s gonna end in a homicide…you can still “Close your Eyes and Escape” to that place that makes you feel happy….your “Somewhere between the Islands & the Arctic”.
That is exactly the reason behind this shirt. It’s suppose to be a reminder that it’s OK to take those simple, convenient moments to escape…even if it’s just closing your eyes for a couple of minutes.
