A few years ago, a retailer paid for their Snoloha order in the form of a SUP (Stand Up Paddleboard). I had an interest in trying it out as another way to get on the water, to get a good workout, and as an alternative to snowboarding in the warmer months.
At the time, there weren’t too many SUPs on the water and there were probably about as many retailers carrying and renting them. Now, they are all over the place. I’m never on the cutting edge of anything. I didn’t get a cell phone until 2005. I drive a 17 year old Jeep (I love it). I wore a pair of shorts yesterday with a giant rip in them….you get the point. I’m not an ‘early-adopter’…I just like what’s comfortable.
If you haven’t tried a SUP yet, you should. It’s fun, and a great workout.
This year, Traverse City will host it’s 2nd TC Waterman Challenge and Expo on Saturday, August 18th (I missed last year’s event due to a Kenny Chesney / Zac Brown Band concert). This is the Midwest’s premier Stand Up Paddle (SUP) event and includes recreational and elite races for all ages and skill levels, free product demonstrations, free clinics, free kids races, and the Awards Luau Dinner, presented by Maui Jim, for all participants. This World Paddle Association- (WPA) sanctioned event is the site of the 2012 Great Lakes Regional Championship!
Snoloha will be exhibiting. So if you are in Traverse City that weekend…be sure to come on down to check out the event, try out a SUP and swing by the Snoloha booth…I’ll sell ya something!
I’m toying around with some ideas for a new Snoloha design at the event. Of course, it can’t be just SUP…that is too ‘warm weather’ centric and thus wouldn’t fit the Snoloha concept. However, if you throw a snowboarder (or skier) in the design, holding his SUP…NOW you have Snoloha.
